2007 Environmental White Paper: The Environment of Mie Prefecture

The current environmental problems confronting us have become more serious as they now expand to a wide range of issues.

In order to solve these problems, we need to consider the traditional social patterns of high production, consumption, and discard; and launch environmental policies to construct a long term society by healthy recycling.

Moreover, it is necessary to arrange new symbiotic relations, between mankind and nature, to preserve the common good that forests provide; such as water conservation functions and variety of nature. Mie's rich environment must be passed down in healthy condition to the next generation.

As a result, in order to promote "A Comprehensive Plan for Fulfilling Life in Mie", we revised the four year plan, "The Second Strategic Plan", from fiscal year 2007 to 2011.

"The Second Strategic Plan" introduces programs called: "Promoting Prevention and Correction of Illegal Waste Disposal"; "Forest Regeneration: Afforestation of Mie"; "Cooperative Realization of a Waste-Free Society"; "Regeneration of Enclosed Coastal Seas"; "Cooperative Global Warming Counter Measures Program"and so on, to create a continuously sustainable society. We will continue working to make a better environment where citizens are able to live safe and peaceful lives.

The 2007 environmental white paper is focused on forest environment policies and the condition of the environment of Mie Prefecture in 2006. Please read the following document.
